Este día se celebra con el objetivo de concientizar sobre el grave problema del acoso escolar y el bullying que tantos niños y adolescentes padecen día a día.
También para llamarnos a todos a buscar herramientas y mecanismos para evitar este mal que se ha convertido en un riesgo para la población infantil y juvenil.
Y también nos llama a reflexionar acerca de lo que hoy, luego de muchos años, muchos adultos todavía padecen las consecuencias sobre su autoestima, y siguen trabajando interiormente y con ayuda de terapeutas para sentirse mejor y superar los recuerdos de aquel sufrimiento.
La fecha fue establecida por asociaciones de padres y diversas ONG y la causa se representa con un lazo color purpura.
Se entiende por Bullying o acoso escolar a la forma de dirigirse a otra persona sea de forma verbal o física, causando un daño a la victima.
Lo que lo caracteriza es el hostigamiento reiterativo de una o más personas, y frente a otros, hacia alguien, en los cuales la persona sufre amenazas, burlas, intimidación e inclusive agresiones físicas.
De acuerdo a investigaciones de UNICEF las cifras de niños y adolescentes afectados crece.
Muchos lo ven como cosas de chicos, y este es un mito que impide combatirlo, y requiere más compromiso de todos los involucrados.
